Wet screeds must dry out before laying laminate, wood flooring, tiles or other floor coverings, otherwise consequential damage is inevitable. The residual moisture content of the screed is used as a basis for assessing whether it is ready for covering.

The relevant maximum moisture contents for cement and calcium sulphate screeds without underfloor heating are:

• 2.0% (0.5%) for wood flooring

• 2.0% (0.5%) for laminate

These values are slightly lower for heated screeds. You can speed up the drying process by using heating to prepare the screed for covering with underfloor heating.

PLEASE NOTE: Even when the screed is ready for covering, moisture protection is mandatory in order to prevent damage to laminate and wood flooring caused by residual moisture!
